Day 1 in pictures

In the boxes on the right you see the first impression on the first day of the tournament. If you click the score in the results table below you will also find a report on the game (in Dutch only) with a picture.

Satisfying start of the Tournament

During the first day of the tournament the crowd suffered from severe rain in the morning and early afternoon, but the quality of the teams was worth it. The four semifinalists are now known. Last years' winners South Korea, Sporting Portugal, Atletico Mineiro and Villareal made it to the semis. OFK Belgrade arguably also deserved a semi final place when you look at the qualities, but with some bad luck against Villareal they just missed out.

South Korea is on route to reach this years final again with brilliant gallery play. It was amazing to see star player Seung Woo Nam from Yonse University cut through the Serbian, Spanish and Dutch defence. Also Neeskens Junior, son of former Dutch and Barcelona CF star Johan Neeskens, playing in the Villareal defence, received the attention of the crowd.

Definately no African teams this edition

Sadly enough, due to restrictions with providing visa at this moment, the African teams saw need to cancel their trips. Two replacements have been found in the Spanish Villareal CF and local team Meervogels '31 from Akersloot. The fixtures will be rearranged a bit. It will be published soon on this site.

OFK Belgrade replaces The Gambia

Due to problems obtaining visa for the African team, it remains uncertain at the moment what teams will be present coming weekend in Uitgeest. The Gambia national team has already cancelled their trip to Holland for certain. Serbian OFK Belgrade will replace the African team. We hope the teams from Ghana and Kenya will still be able to obtain their paperwork in order in time to play.

The Gambia U20 replaces SD Quito

Due to problems arranging the necessary information, the organisation decided to invite The Gambia national U20 team instead of the Ecuador team of SD Quito. With The Gambia, three of the participants come from the African continent.

Former ICGT player at WC 2010 South Africa

In 1999 a talented player of Willem II showed us his capacities in Uitgeest. His name was Joris Mathijsen, and he made that clear to the world since then. After a solid player in the first team of Willem II from Tilburg, AZ Alkmaar bought the player. In Alkmaar he developped into a European topflight player, and a transfer abroad was not a surprise. In Hamburg Mathijsen ended uo with HSV, and in 2004 he made his first cap away at Andorra. Mathijsen played all games in the WC 2010 so far.
